Shadow Boxers

Part Three

Sheriff's Dept. Interrogation Room

The Gray Zombie sat at the table. The FBI agent, Erikson, sat opposite of him. Gray knew exactly why he was there. He was Erikson's prime suspect in the mysterious deaths. He sat patiently as Erikson continued to ask questions to which Gray had no answers for.

"Very well," Erikson said, "Explain this."

Erikson pulled out several photographs. Gray recognized the scene. It was the White House lawn when Kraztar of the Higher Circle tried to kill the President in order for the Kortac to invade Earth.

"What do you want to know?" Gray asked

Erikson pointed at the picture of the Kortac, "What is this and who are all these people you're with?"

"That's a Kortac, a being from another dimension who are planning on invading Earth. Those people are friends of mine, we've banded together to prevent the Kortac from taking over. Oh, and there's a cab company in New York that's the secret base to a group of extraterrestrial, who are observing us and this planet." Gray explained, he learned that if you told the truth, nobody would believe you.

Erikson looked at Gray as if he were crazy. Before he could say another word, Sheriff Mann walked into the room.

"Gray's alibi checked out, Erikson." The sheriff said, "He's free to go. Like I said, he's innocent."

"You believe this 'Shadow Boxer' story?" Erikson asked

"Yes, I've seen them. Watched them kill my son. You have a problem with any of this?"

Erikson sat silently. Mann turned to Gray.

"Sorry, Gray." Mann said, "You're free to go. Your niece is waiting for you outside."

Outside the Sheriff's department

Gray walked outside, only to be pounced by Opus.

"I knew you'd get out." Opus said, "They know you're innocent, right?"

"Ayup" Gray said. He turned around and saw the blonde woman in white standing behind him. Opus jumped, startled to see her there. Gray merely stood there.

"Hello, One of The Gray." she said. She held out a small wooden chest, "I have a message for you from The Council."

"I'm not interested." Gray said, "Come on, Opus. Let's go"

"Gray, please." the woman continued, "You cannot ignore the summons from The Council"

"Oh, really? Funny, that's what I thought I was doing."

"The Shadow Boxers are back, The Council has need of your services."

"Angel." Gray said, softly, "I do not have anything to do with The Council."

Opus looked at her, "Your names Angel?"

"No, I am The Angel." The Angel said with a smile, "I'm one of the messengers for The Council."

"And that is all you need to know," Gray said, taking Opus' hand, "We're leaving."

    "Gray," The Angel pleaded, "Please."

The Gray Zombie walked over to The Angel and gave her a long cold stare before speaking.

"They sent Valerie up against The Shadow Monarch. They never told her who she was going up against. They made that decision without the decision of the One Who Stands Between The Light And The Dark."

"You would of voted against such a decision."

"She died. HE left her to die slowly and painfully. I was not able to save her, except to quicken her death. Now, you ask me again, why I should listen to them?"

The Angel slowly bowed her head. "I will tell them that you will not attend the meeting."

Gray Zombie turned and walked away, Opus quickly following.

Elsewhere

Axion, all goes as planned, does it not? Good. HE shall die the most painful of deaths. HE will not be saved as HIS love was.

The warriors are at the ready, Axion. Command them well. Bring more sacrifices to me. I shall be free.

Zombie's Swamp, Gray's Home

Opus sat at the table, looking over at The Gray Zombie, who sat looking at Edgar, who was watching a Wally Gator cartoon on television. The Gray Zombie looked at her and smiled.

"The Council," he explained "is called The Council of Order and Chaos. They keep and eye on things going on that are somewhat unexplained. The supernatural. Demons who wish to drive humankind into complete chaos. The Council knows that Chaos cannot live without Order, and vice versa. So, they are around to try and make sure that nothing happens to upset the balance."

"And you were a member of which? Chaos or Order?"

"I represent the line between the two. In reality, at least in this dimension, there is no pure good, and no pure evil. But there is the gray."

"Hence, the color in your name?"

    Gray Zombie nodded

    "And the 'Zombie' part?"

"I walk around like I'm some sort of Zombie. What? You think I'm dead or something?"

Opus smiled, then the smile faded when she thought of her next question, "This Shadow Monarch, he's the leader of the Shadow Boxers?"

"Yea. Most of the Shadow Boxers have a sort of human look to them. The Monarch is more demonic looking. Not to mention more powerful."

    "What happened to him?"

"After Valerie's death, I performed a ritual sending him to this nether realm. Imprisoning him."

"Uncle Gray, these murders. They're being caused by the Shadow Boxers, right?"

    "Yes. Sacrifices."

"And if the right sacrifice is made? Uncle Gray, the Shadow Boxers are trying to free The Shadow Monarch. We have to stop them."

"What do you mean 'we'? You have no idea on demon hunting. This is not like fighting Kortac. This is much worse."

"So, you'll prevent the Kortac from invading, but you'll let these demons take over?"

The Gray Zombie looked at her, "What are you trying to tell me?"

"Go to The Council. They need your help, and maybe, you'll need theirs."

The Gray Zombie got up from the table and walked across the home towards his bedroom. As he entered the bedroom, he closed the door behind him. Opus got up and sat on the floor, next to Edgar.

"Animebabe's right, Edgar," she said, "he's one stubborn person."

Edgar let out a growl as if to say, "duh"

A few minute's later

The Gray Zombie walked out of his bedroom, having changed clothes. He was wearing all gray. Gray slacks, gray boots, gray shirt, gray gloves, and a gray western duster. Opus got up and looked at his outfit.

"Don't care much for the color," she said, "But it's a nice outfit."

Gray smiled, then clicked on his communicator, having put it back on his wrist, "Hobbes, I need to be teleported somewhere. This is an emergency."

Hobbes voice came over the speaker, "Of course, Gray. What is the destination?"

The Council Chamber

The Council members slowly filed into the room. All twelve members stopped to find that the thirteenth seat was once again occupied.

"Sit down, all of you." The Gray Zombie told them "I'm going to tell you just exactly what's going to happen."

Augusta, Ga. The nightclub called 'Adams'. An hour later

The people at the club were all enjoying themselves immensely, trying to forget about the problems of the days work. Shelly was also enjoying herself, having found the most mysterious man ever.

"So, you say there are other's like you?" She asked

"Oh yes, quite a few" the man replied

"That's interesting. I'd like to meet them."

    "Oh, you shall. Very soon."

"They all have interesting names like yours? Oh God, I'm sorry. I just forgot it. Damn, I'm so mentally challenged."

"Oh, that's ok." The man said, with a smile "My name is Axion. And my friends should be arriving very soon."
