Part One

Earth, 2045 AD

Opus1432 used to hear the veterans talk about what Earth was like before the war. She heard that the planet was once green with vegetation. That the sky was blue, that the water was....reasonably clean. This was, of course, long before she was born, before the Kortac invaded and won the war. Now, humans were slaves. There were those, like Opus1432, who lived in hiding. They were the resistance, hoping to defeat the Kortac and reclaim their world. She was a member of a special resistance. She was a second generation Capper. Her parents, new to the Capper resistance at the time of the war, were killed shortly after she was born, but the veterans raised her and others, training them. Despite the training, some of her friends were captured by Kortac and taken to slave camps. She never saw them again.

At one time, the Capper base was located between dimensions. But the Kortac were soon able to trace when the Capper's teleported to base, and soon the base and their leader, whom she was told was named Tolstoy, were destroyed. Now, the Cappers kept their base beneath the city once known as Washington, DC. With what technology they were able to bring with them, they managed to remain hidden from the Kortac, although they never teleported since that dark day. She walked through the sewers that led to the base. A sentry stepped out of the shadows, stopping her.

    "Password." He demanded

    "Hikeeba." She replied

He thumbed to the entrance to the base, "Enter."

The base was made up of man made tunnels, different rooms where twelve or more slept together, a huge commons area, where they all met and trained, and the Veterans Room, where the senior members of the resistance met and planned. Opus1432 saw UncleZero supervising the training of some young boys (The resistance, regrettably, had to train members young. Much as they hated doing it, 13 year olds were put into combat). She looked around and saw Auntie Anime standing at the entrance to the Veteran's Room looking at her. Auntie Anime then turned and walked into the Veteran's Room. Opus1432, being very curious as to why she was being looked at in that way, crept to the entrance of the room and, trying not to be seen, listened in.

Veterans Room

The Senior Cappers, those that were still alive, sat at their table discussing what to do next.

GersonK, now leader of the Cappers, shook his head, "It's too dangerous. Haven't you ever heard of the paradox?"

The_Comet disagreed on the paradox, "If one of us were to do this, yes a paradox would be caused."

From a speaker, Opus1432 heard the voice of The Gray Zombie, or Uncle Gray as some of the younger generation liked to call him, "But we are talking about sending one of the younger recruits. And it would be safe to send Opus, she's only 17 years old. Her parents also met AFTER the Kortac invaded, so you see...."

"Yes," Gerson interrupted, "You're right, but it could be dangerous. I mean, what if we are unable to change what has happened?"

Auntie Anime, who was once known as animebabe, answered softly "We don't know what may or may not happen, but we must try."

"And if we're lucky, what happened to BuckFifty, Rizzz, BatQueen and the others, will not have happened" added MedusaD, who for years after the attack, hardly spoke, but when she did, it was always something that required some consideration.

Gerson nodded, then rose from his chair and walked to the door, "Ok, Opus1432, enter."

Opus walked into the room, "How did you know I was there?" she asked

Auntie Anime gave her a stern look, "Oh come on, we were Capping long before you were born. And besides, we may be old, but we sure as hell aren't senile."

    Opus smiled.

The_Comet walked over to her, "So, Opus1432, I suppose you may be wondering what we were talking about?"

"Oh, the thought never crossed my mind."

UncleZero walked into the room, "Yea right. And I'm a NAMBLA member."

The_Comet continued, "I think it's best if we walked into the lab."

The Lab

Opus1432 looked around the lab. She never liked being in it, since it was full of special containers of Kortac corpses in different stages of decomposition. But it was the only place where she could see and talk with Uncle Gray. In 2036, The Gray Zombie was captured by Kortac during a raid on a slave camp. The Cappers did rescue him, but they were too late to save him completely. The Kortac performed the most cruel experiment, removing his skeletal system. Now, he was nothing more than a pile of skin and muscle, having to stay in a special tank.

"Uncle Gray, what's going on?" she asked

"Don't worry," Uncle Gray said from within the tank, "hopefully, we're sending you far away from here, to prevent this from happening."

    "Do what?"

UncleZero walked over to her, "Time travel." he replied with a smile

"Is that possible?" Opus heard stories of time travel, but never thought it was possible, unlike dimension hopping, time travel was something for science fiction.

"We believe it is now." Auntie Anime answered, "It was one of the devices, Capper Team Delta grabbed on the raid at the Kortac research facility. The_Comet and Medusa were able to work it out and, with luck, we can send someone back in time, to the latter part of 1999. And prevent things from taking place."

Opus raised an eyebrow, "And you want me to go? Why?"

"You are one of the few who's got a sharp memory," GersonK answered, "you know the events that happened, so you can prevent those events from taking place."

"Ok, next question, what if you can't change the past? What if I get killed?"

MedusaD walked over to her, "It's better than becoming a Kortac slave. We're losing the war, Opus. It's only a matter of time before the Kortac discover our hiding place. Once that happens...."

"The Senior Cappers are executed," DanZero said, "and the rest of you are taken to the slave camps."

"Opie," Uncle Gray said, "It's very important that we try this. At least, with you, there isn't any past self for you to meet."

"What will happen to me if I'm successful?"

The veterans all weren't sure how to answer.

    "I'll cease to exist won't I?'

"Maybe," The_Comet said, "Then again, maybe not. But one thing is certain, if you are successful, you won't have a future to come home to."

"There's a good chance that the past will be your new home," UncleZero answered, "no one has ever time traveled, so we don't know all about it. It's just nothing but hypotheses and such. But the Kortac obviously used it."

Opus looked around, "They sent a Kortac to the past, didn't they?"

GersonK nodded, "Kraztar of the Higher Circle. Ruthless and mean. They plan on wiping out the resistance by letting Martac know where Capper Central is located before they originally attacked, they do a sneak attack early, then the resistance is finished before it begins."

"Ok," Opus said, rubbing her hands, "Let's get started then." She then walked over to Uncle Gray's tank, "I hope your past self will love me and be the uncle like you've been."

"Hell," Uncle Gray replied, "I haven't changed at all. Once I get to know you, I'll be there to help you when you need it."

"Opus," Gerson said, "We have to get started."

The time travelling device looked like the wristbands that The Cappers used years ago. She put it on, The_Comet set the controls for time and destination. Opus1432 activated the device. The next thing she knew, she was in a strange vortex.

Capper Central, 1999

Within a week of Tolstoy inviting the first Cappers to help in the fight against the Kortac, Capper Central became the new home to all Cappers. Once word got out, they were eager to join. Tolstoy was impressed over the turnout. Hobbes was quick to learn about Capping, and even joined in from time to time. However, the search for the Kortac new Earth base was foremost on their minds.

"Somewhere hot." suggested The Gray Zombie, "I mean, they need the heat. They're cold blooded reptiles."

"I agree," said Hobbes "However, finding them will be much harder, after all, they are aware of us, and we found them before. They have probably boosted the power on their new scrambler device that replaced the one you and anime destroyed."

The Gray Zombie just shrugged,"Oh well, shtuff happens."

DevilDoll walked into the room, she was followed by YingYang, JoeCrow, and Amon.

"Hey, Gray," she said, "we're here to relieve you."

"Already? Boy time flies when you are sitting on your butt staring at the computer screen."

The Gray Zombie got up to leave the room. Before he walked out the doorway, the central alarm sounded.

"Ok," he said, "who touched what?"

"I didn't touch anything." JoeCrow said, "It just sounded."

"It's a strange energy reading," Hobbes said, "It's emanating from Training Room Seven. It's getting stronger every 12 seconds."

"Hell, Fire, and Brimstone." Gray Zombie said, then clicked his communicator on, "Ok, Teen Gang, we got an energy reading in Training Room Seven. Would a few Cappers please meet me there, with weapons, just in case?"

Outside Training Room Seven

The_Comet, BuckFifty, and SpydieGirl met The Gray Zombie outside the room, they all carried weapons, Buck carrying his Laser Bazooka, which he nicknamed "Ole Faithful"

"Oh, good, you're all here." Gray Zombie said, he looked and saw Tolstoy running towards them, "Howdy, Boss."

Tolstoy looked at the door, "What's going on?"

"Not sure, but we're going to find out." The Gray Zombie then called out loud, "Hobbes, how goes the energy readings?"

Hobbes voice came over the loudspeaker, "Energy reading, came and went. Evidently a vortex of some sort opened and then closed. But there is a life form in the room. Apparently human. Unable to tell if the brain is also human."

Tolstoy walked to the door's controls, "Ok, then let's see who our visitor is. Buck, Comet, Spydie don't shoot unless we are attacked first."

"Yea," Gray said, looking straight at Buck, "and don't kill right away."

"Sum bitch, you never let me have fun." Buck complained

Tolstoy pushed the button to open the door. Once the doors opened they peered inside. There inside, was a girl. Apparently 17 or so in age. She looked at the group, when she saw the Gray Zombie she smiled.

"Uncle Gray!" She exclaimed, then threw her hand over her mouth.

The others looked at The Gray Zombie

    "Uncle Gray'?" asked SpydieGirl

The Gray Zombie shrugged. He had no idea what was going on.

The New Kortac Base, somewhere in the desert

Supreme Commander Martac, in the human body of one Mr. Green, walked into the new Kortac command center. Damn Cappers, whoever you are, he thought, next time you won't be so lucky.  He then looked up at a Kortac officer coming towards him.

"Sir, you wished to see me?" the officer asked

"Yes," Martac said "How long will it take to get dimensional battle cruisers?"

"It will take some time, the Empire is using them at present in battle against the Sarcassians. Why?"

Martac smiled, "Well, it's important that we conquer this planet. And there is one group that actually stands in our way. And we are going to destroy that group, by attacking their base.

"I see,and do you know where this base is?"

"Oh yea, I do know." he said, another Kortac, a very menacing looking being that the officer had never seen before, walked in. "And thanks to my new friend, Kraztar of the Higher Circle, The Cappers are soon to be exterminated."

To Be Continued

(The adventure continues. The Cappers have to protect their base from being destroyed. Can they do it?)
